Sacred Sound

SACRED SOUND is the Music of the Spheres, and brings everything into the great Harmony of Being.  Sound is in All and through All.  Whether as prayer, music, song, incantation or chants, sound is a vital force which permeates every aspect of Creation, and has always been considered a direct link between humanity and the Divine.

At some point, all of the ancient mystery schools taught their students the use of sound as a creative and healing force.  It is considered the oldest form of healing, and it was a predominant part of the early teachings of the Greeks, Chinese, East Indians, Tibetans, Egyptians, North American Indians, Mayans, and the Aztecs.

Resonance is the most important principle of sound in any form.  It designates the ability of a vibration to reach out through vibrational waves to set off a similar vibration in another body.  Every cell within our body is a sound resonator, and has the capability of responding to any sound outside of the body. -- The Hathor Material, by Tom Kenyon and Virginia Essene

THE TRUE POWER OF WATER -- I recently read the following book by Dr. Masaru Emoto, and felt his research might shed some light on why so many people have suggested that our music is very healing and soothing to them.   Our bodies are made up of 70% water, and Dr. Emoto has written several books on the affects of words and music on the very structure of water.   I am quoting from excerpts of pages 122 to 124 of The True Power of Water -- Healing and Discovering Ourselves, by Dr. Masaru Emoto:

"We played music under the same conditions as we would enjoy it.  The results defied our expectations.  The water showed a reaction similar to the healing effects that we would feel from music.  Especially, water made very complex and intricate crystals after it was exposed to the music of a full orchestra.

Perhaps the harmony created by different instruments produces good hado.  Our body is made up of as many as sixty trillion cells.  Our body is the harmony played by these cells.  The harmony of the music played by an orchestra can reach each and every cell of our body and thus contribute to our health.

Besides classical music, we also played so-called healing music to water, and beautiful crystals resulted; on the other hand, when the water listened to heavy-metal music, no crystals were formed.

I believe that music truly has healing effects.  We feel we are healed when we listen to music, perhaps because the water in our body is healed by listening to the music.  Good music reaches every one of our sixty trillion cells.....

Lately, I have been thinking more about the relationship between music and our body.  In the medical field, there are more and more physicians who incorporate "music therapy" into their practice.  They say that having the patient listen to music accelerates the recovery process.  I am a great supporter of this therapy.  We are water.  If the music makes water happy, it must positively affect our cells, which are made up of water."
